What is the National Lok Adalat?
Coordinated by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and Delhi Traffic Police, Lok Adalat provides a fast and easy way of resolving pending compoundable traffic challans and other legal disputes. The event serves as a one-stop-shop for vehicle owners to clear the dues and leave unburdened by unresolved fines.
Which Cases Will Be Compromised?
The Lok Adalat will comprise the following two broad categories:
Traffic Police Challans/Notices:
- All pending compoundable traffic challans (for both private and commercial vehicles) till 30th Nov 2024.
- Includes spot challans, GRAP (pollution-related) violations, and other notices.
Other Legal Disputes:
- Criminal compoundable offenses
- Cheque bounce cases under Section 138, Negotiable Instruments Act
- Money recovery matters
- Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation (MACT)
- Labor disputes
- Electricity and water bill disputes
- Matrimonial disputes (other than divorce)
- Land acquisition cases
- Service matters (pay, allowances, retirement benefits)
- Pending revenue matters in the district courts and the High Courts
- Other civil matters
Where Will Lok Adalat Be Held?
The Lok Adalat will be conducted in various court complexes across Delhi, as follows:
- Dwarka
- Karkardooma
- Patiala House
- Rohini
- Rouse Avenue
- Saket
- Tis Hazari
How to Prepare for the Lok Adalat?
To ensure the process is seamless, you should do the following:
Download and Print Your Challan:
- Please visit the official website of the Delhi Traffic Police: https://traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/notice/lokadalat.
- Download and print your pending challans/notices from the link available starting from 10 AM on 3rd March 2025.
- Note: Challans will only be accepted if pending up to 30th November 2024.
Carry The Printout:
- Another important thing you must carry is a printout of your challan to the Lok Adalat.
- Facilities to take prints will not be available on the court’s premises.
Timely Arrival:
- Working hours for Lok Adalat will be from 10 AM to 4 PM on 8th March 2025.
- Be there early to sort out the last-minute rush.
