Credit Card Rules Update: Major Changes for SBI and IDFC First Bank Customers from April 1, 2025

Attention all Club Vistara credit card users with SBI (State Bank of India) or IDFC First Bank: Significant changes are about to roll in for you on April 1, 2025. The updates will affect rewards, fee structures, and the total value of your card, which will lead possibly to a loss of some of your enjoyed privileges. Let us explain these changes in detail to help you understand how the changes might affect you.

Major Changes to the IDFC First Bank Club Vistara Credit Card

IDFC First Bank has announced recently that, starting on March 31, 2025, several attraction benefits related to the Club Vistara Credit Cards would be discontinued. Here are some of those changes:

  • Club Vistara Silver Membership: The premium Club Vistara Silver charter membership would end, so cardholders would not be able to access premium benefits.
  • Complimentary Vouchers: No longer offered are features such as the Premium Economy ticket voucher and 1-class upgrade voucher.
  • Milestone Vouchers: No cardholder would receive milestone vouchers anymore for getting Premium Economy tickets.
  • Annual Fees: The bank would waive this fee for one year after renewing the card after the said date.
  • Maharaja Points: You will continue earning Maharaja Points till March 31, 2026 but entirely lose access to the card after this date.

Modifications to SBI’s Club Vistara Credit Cards

These major changes include ones from SBI under the new rules from April 1, 2025. Here are the new provisions:

  • Economy Ticket Voucher: No Economy ticket voucher will nowadays get credited to cardholders.
  • Milestone Benefits: Will cease for annual spending milestones of 1.25 lakh, 2.5 lakh, and 5 lakh.
  • Premium Economy Ticket Voucher: Premium Economy ticket voucher will not be issued to Club Vistara SBI Prime Credit Card members.
  • Renewal Fees: The renewal fee for the base card will be ₹1,499, while the prime card will be ₹2,999. However, a fee waiver option will still be available.

Implications of These Changes

For you guys who are habitual users of the co-branded Club Vistara cards, this could sting. Notice that the milestone benefits, free vouchers, and membership perks are going to be finished, which means that quite a few of the attractive incentives to keep this card saying goodbye would go along with it. Moreover, that increased portion is only going to pile on the hog of money, which now branches off into having the cards re-evaluated as to whether it satisfies your purposes anymore.

What are these changes meant for?

The root cause lies in the merging of Vistara and Air India, which happened in November 2024. Such cause led to a reworking of their loyalty programs under Air India’s Maharaja Club because of which both IDFC First Bank and SBI Cards needed to restructure their credit card offerings.
