The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization has done a monumental task by allowing members to update their personal information with utmost ease in their EPF accounts without going through the hassle of uploading documents. This user-friendly exercise aims to save time and align processes for millions of EPF members across India.
If your Universal Account Number is linked to Aadhaar, you can now update your EPF profile directly without requiring approval from the employer. Henceforth, there shall be no waiting period of 28 days, which was earlier the requirement.
What Can You Update?
Members can now self-update some crucial details including:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Sex
- Nationality
- Name of Parents
- Marital Status
- Name of Spouse
- Dates of Joining and Leaving
However, if the UAN was issued before October 1, 2017, approval from the employer is still required. Linking your Aadhaar and PAN with your EPF account is further advised to avoid complications in timely withdrawal and updating your profile.

This newly introduced mechanism shall help 45 percent of requests for profile update to be self-accepted by EPFO, speeding up data validation and minimizing errors. Thus, improving user experience and making the process more transparent and efficient for EPF members.
